flickr-loyaldefender2004One of the first signs that the Wisconsin Dells summer tourist season is just around the corner occured this morning, on the first day of spring.  At 7:00 A.M., Paul Bunyan’s Famous Cook Shanty opened for business for the 2009 season after being closed for the past several months during the off-season.  Paul Bunyan’s is a Wisconsin Dells institution with their all-you-can-eat meals served family style, or “lumberjack style” as they like to call it.  A favorite of my family, and an annual tradition, is the Logging Camp Breakfast.  Breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, fried potatoes, and the best sugar donuts you’ll ever have.  Paul Bunyan’s serves lunch and dinner too, although I have never eaten anything other than breakfast there. More information about Paul Bunyan’s, including hours of operation can be found on their website.
