My family and I just got back from a couple of days in the Dells. This time we stayed at the Kalahari and took advantage of the great deal offered by the “Don White Block”. (More information about this will be posted soon). This was the second time we stayed at the Kalahari, and it won’t be the last.
The management of the Kalahari knows how to get it right. Little things make a big difference. For example, we checked in right at 4:00, and checked out right at 11:00 – the busiest times for the front desk. Even though there were dozens of other people checking in and out, I had no trouble finding a cart to haul our bags on. This is huge for me. I have stayed at other hotels where I needed to roam the entire hotel looking for a baggage cart. It isn’t fun.
During the fall weekends leading up to Halloween, they have special “Fall Festival” events – free hot cider, cotton candy, a bouncy house for the kids, and other things. It was a nice diversion from the water park. The outdoor water park was open, but it was about 15 degrees too cool outside for anyone to actually be using it. Despite the crowded hotel, the indoor water park never felt crowded. One complaint that I have about the indoor water park is the temperature of the water. It isn’t heated, and is quite cold. Once you have been in the water for a little bit, you get used to it, but it isn’t comfortable. It seems that the other indoor water parks that I have visited in the Dells keep their water warmer.
We had a great time again at the Kalahari, and it was hard to leave. I’ll post additional details of our visit over the next couple of weeks.
