Flake Out Festival Deals and Special Hotel Rates

If you are visiting the Wisconsin Dells this weekend, there are many excellent deals being offered in conjunction with the annual Flake Out Festival. There are several Dells attractions offering discounted admissions as well as discounts at many Dells restaurants and hotels. In order to take advantage of these special deals, you need to have the Flake Out Festival brochure to present when you buy your tickets at the attraction or visit the restaurant. The brochure is available to print online here. Brochures are also available at the Visitors Bureau’s offices located at 701 Superior Street in downtown Wisconsin Dells. The Visitors Bureau is open from 8:30 – 5:00, 7 days a week.

The River Walk Pub Reopens

After being closed for just over a month, the River Walk Pub in Wisconsin Dells reopened today under new management. As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, the popular bar and restaurant had been closed since Mid-October. The previous operator of the River Walk Pub, Sandy Marselle, died in a motorcycle accident last summer, and the management of the restaurant had been taken over by her son, Matt.

The building that houses the restaurant is owned by the people who own the River’s Edge Resort. Sandy Marselle leased the building from them and operated the restaurant. On Monday, the Wisconsin Dells Common Council approved the transfer of the liquor license from Sandy Marselle’s company to the River’s Edge folks so they could run the restaurant. Once the license was transferred, they were free to open back up.

The new operators have made some changes to the menu and the restaurant. Among the changes is the elimination of the weekly live entertainment. I am looking forward to checking the new and improved place out. I think I’ll probably wait until next summer when I can sit out on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful view of the Wisconsin River.

Additional Details on The River Walk Pub Closing

As I reported a couple of days ago, the River Walk Pub in downtown Wisconsin Dells has closed. Since I learned about this, I have been trying to find out as much information as possible about the closing and what the future holds for the popular restaurant situated along the Wisconsin Dells Riverwalk.

On June 27th, the operator of the River Walk Pub, Sandy Marselle, tragically died as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident a couple of weeks earlier. At the time of her death, her son Matt took over the daily operations of the restaurant. In early to mid-October, it was announced that the River Walk Pub would be closing on October 16th.

Although Sandy operated the restaurant, the property and the building are actually owned by the owners of the River’s Edge Resort. The word is that the owners have decided to reopen the River Walk Pub sometime during late November, and continuing its operation.

There are several Halloween events going on in the Wisconsin Dells tonight and this weekend. Most of the fun is geared toward older children or adults.

Haunted Houses

There are 3 permanent Haunted Houses in the Wisconsin Dells. They will no doubt be busy this weekend. The Dells/Delton Jaycees also run their House of Horrors Haunted House each year.

Halloween Parties

The Dells Comedy Club (591 Wisconsin Dells Parkway) is hosting the adults only Halloween Costume Party Fantasy and Fetish Ball. This sounds interesting. Costumes are mandatory. Admission is $10 at the door. Details of the party can be found here.

The Country Keg Saloon (732 Oak Street, downtown) is having a costume party with physic readings. There is no cover charge.

The River Walk Pub (911 River Rd.), is having a Halloween party with live music by SwifKick The River Walk Pub has closed. See details here.

Marley’s (1470 Wisconsin Dells Parkway) is having their Halloween Costume Contest starting at 9:00. Prizes and drink specials all night.
